Venkat Iyer
Campaign Statement July 19, 2025

Dear fellow DBR Residents,

My name is Venkat (Vic) Iyer, and I am excited to formally announce my candidacy for a position on our Association Board. As an active community member, I believe we are at a crucial point where strong leadership, technical expertise, and clear accountability can make a lasting difference. I am ready to bring exactly that to the table.

I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering and an MBA in Finance from the University of Miami. This unique combination of technical and financial expertise allows me to analyze and manage complex infrastructure projects with precision and fiscal responsibility.

I am also a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) through the Project Management Institute, which equips me with the skills to plan, execute, and oversee large-scale projects efficiently and effectively.

To deepen my understanding of community management and legal compliance, I hold an active Florida Real Estate License, giving me a strong grasp of real estate laws relevant to our association.

With over 6.5 years of hands-on association board experience serving as President, Vice President, and Secretary, I have developed a deep familiarity with Florida Statute 718 (Condominium Act) and rely heavily on this knowledge to resolve issues internally, minimizing costly legal interventions whenever possible.

Currently, I serve as the President of a condo hotel community in the Daytona area, where we are actively managing major infrastructure projects including the rebuilding of the sea wall, pool renovations, roof replacements, and other critical updates. Leading these complex repairs has significantly deepened my practical knowledge of the challenges and best practices involved in restoring and maintaining community infrastructure. This experience has strengthened my ability to oversee large-scale projects with technical precision, financial discipline, and clear communication.

My combined expertise in engineering, finance, project management, real estate law, and board leadership uniquely positions me to guide DBR through the complex challenges we face today.

This is the most crucial election in the history of DBR, and it’s important that we all take it seriously by selecting the ideal candidates to lead us through the next phase of repairing and restoring our infrastructure. We need board members who have the knowledge, experience, and skills necessary to undertake major engineering projects like the sea wall, pools, roof, elevator, and garage.

While I respect all candidates who volunteer their time to serve the community, it’s critical to understand the importance of having the right members for this next phase of DBR.

Ask yourself:
Would you rather elect members who simply solicit bids and hand over millions of dollars in contracts to vendors hoping everything goes right?
Or would you prefer experienced members who can clearly define the scope of work, select the optimal design, negotiate for the best prices, and ensure contractors execute the job properly?

The choice you make now will have a significant impact on the costs and timelines required to complete these infrastructure projects.
Special assessments are unavoidable, but handing over large portions of those funds to lawyers and unproductive tasks will hurt all of us.
It’s time to minimize legal expenses and instead focus on generating revenue and value for DBR.

Let’s bring DBR back to its glory!

I also endorse these candidates for the board: Ted Thuli, Jena Marie, and Sri Sama.

Thank you for your consideration and support.

Sincerely,
Venkat (Vic) Iyer
